Newtown’s municipal budget is a $40 million enterprise. Managing it effectively requires real world experience. Before launching his own business, Bruce supervised teams of 250+ employees, negotiated large contracts, and managed multimillion-dollar budgets.
In all his roles, Bruce consistently delivered more with less. That’s what Newtown needs: a First Selectman who can enhance critical town services while managing the burdens on our taxpayers.

- Newtown Police Commission. Bruce wrote the traffic calming procedures to address worsening traffic in our town.
- Newtown Economic Development Commission. Served 3 terms with this bipartisan Group.
- First Selectman’s Business Advisory Committee. Under Dan Rosenthal.
- Newtown Family Counseling Center – Past President.
- Newtown Lions Club. Past President and member for 15 years. Helped to launch free annual eye screenings in Newtown Schools. Led the Lion’s Diaper Express and Stuff-a-Truck events.
- Board Member of Junior Achievement USA and the Multiple Sclerosis Foundation.
- Trustee of the United Way.
Laser Focused.
Newtown’s elected officials need to be laser focused on a few things that matter to every single Newtown resident: reasonable budgets, healthy infrastructure, strong schools, and smart development.
Over the last two years, the Republican members of the school board and local government have not been laser focused. Last year’s book banning proposal and this year’s proposed ordinance to restrict the right of assembly in Newtown were badly conceived, needlessly divisive and an embarrassment.
Had these proposals become law, it would have resulted in a lot of unwanted attention to Newtown while placing our property values at risk.
Newtown is a wonderful place to work and live. And it deserves a local government that is focused only on the issues that matter to Newtown.
